PN relieves pain by calming and quieting irritated nerve endings and by providing the needed nourishment to the nerves. It also promotes restful sleep. Be aware that Valerian is not suitable for everybody, and should be used with particular caution with children.

I find PN works as quickly as any OTC pain reliever and doesn't cause me any negative side effects. When I have a flare-up, I take it a few times daily for a few days, but get back to as needed use rapidly.
