Which Orange should I choose?
All of the Orange oils have the same therapeutic properties and can be used interchangeably. Orange Blood, Orange Sweet, and Orange Sweet Dark are all from Citrus sinensis. Orange Sweet is the most common and the most inexpensive. The aroma of Orange Blood is a bit brighter and a bit more tart than Orange Sweet. Orange Sweet Dark differs from Orange Sweet only slightly. It is derived from the first pressing of the peels, giving it a slightly deeper aroma. Orange Bitter comes from Citrus aurantium. This is the same tree that we get Neroli and Petitgrain from. It smells very similar to Orange Sweet but has an underlying touch of tart bitterness reminiscent of grapefruit oil.
