LAPPA ARCTIUM (burdock) As an herbal remedy, burdock is a liver cleanser of great ability and is known to encourage intestinal peristalsis and protect the blood against acidosis. Homeopathically, Lappa arctium affects the skin, sweat glands, liver, kidneys, joints, and the uterus (a remedy specific for uterine displacement and prolapse).
TARAXACUM OFFICINALE (dandelion) Dandelion’s chief traditional use is for liver obstruction and kidney difficulties. Some symptoms of Taraxacum include headaches due to liver disturbances, frequent desire to urinate, jerkings and shooting pains in the muscles of the neck, profuse night sweats, and impatience and irritability.
TRIFOLIUM PRATENSE (red clover) The materia medicas list this remedy for blood disorders, coughs, cancers, fibroids, and whooping cough, and other coughs that are worse at night, and for sore throat with hoarseness.
YUCCA GLAUCA (Soapweed) Yucca, as an herbal remedy, is used for osteoarthritis, high blood pressure, migraine headaches, inflammation of the intestine that is present with colitis, high cholesterol, stomach disorders, diabetes, poor circulation, and liver and gallbladder disorders.
MALVA NEGLECTA (marshmallow) As an herbal remedy, marshmallow is a mild diuretic but its great strength lies in the abundance of vitamins and trace minerals that it contains. Homeopathic remedies contain no material dose of substances but theory holds that they can stimulate the body to better uptake and utilize the vitamins and minerals which the herbs contain.
RHEUM PALMATUM (turkey rhubarb) Hahnemann’s proving of Rheum confirmed many of its traditional uses. Some of these uses include improving digestion and appetite, strengthening the kidneys and the bowels, and acting as a mild stimulating tonic and cleanser to the liver and the blood. Interestingly, symptoms for this remedy are mostly left-sided.
