DIGESTIVE #2 7X
NORWALK VIRUS NOSODE (norovirus) This family of viruses is the most common cause of intestinal disturbances in the United States. They can be ingested in contaminated food or water or can be passed from an infected person to someone else. Symptoms include intense nausea and vomiting usually lasting only a day or two, diarrhea, stomach cramps, headache, and low-grade fever. The most serious effect is dehydration if a person is unable to keep liquids down for too long a period of time. Please remember that with homeopathic treatment, it is not necessary to have ingested a particular strain of virus or bacteria to benefit from the remedy made from it. You need only have a similar symptom picture.
ARSENICUM ALBUM (white oxide of arsenicum) This is the first remedy to reach for in any stomach and intestinal upset because it has the widest range of digestive symptoms in its picture.
IPECACUANHA (Ipecac root) Ipec symptoms include cramps with nausea and vomiting, nausea from the smell of food with violent hunger when nausea is over, violent cramping pains, gastroenteritis, and nausea not better for vomiting. The most outstanding keynote of Ipecacuanha is continual persistent nausea.
NUX VOMICA (poison nut) A remedy for intense, driven people who cannot bear noises, odors, light, or touch and who are easily offended by the careless words of others. Keynote digestive symptoms include cravings for stimulants, but worse for them, feeling of weight and pain in the stomach, region of stomach sensitive to pressure, constant sour taste in the mouth, nausea, and vomiting in the morning, and the stomach and abdomen are very sensitive to touch.
PODOPHYLLUM PELTATUM (May apple) Indian tribes used the root to expel worms. This remedy acts on the duodenum, which is an unusual and important function. Symptoms include rumbling and shifting of flatus, heartburn, gagging, empty retching, nausea, diarrhea, and weakness after stool.
VERATRUM ALBUM (white hellebore) Veratrum album is an important remedy for many body systems. The symptoms, taken together, add up to a profound prostration and collapsed state with extreme coldness. All symptoms indicative of veratrum are violent and sudden. With digestive issues, there will be copious evacuation—vomiting, diarrhea, salivation, sweat, and urine. Nausea and vomiting will be aggravated by the least motion.
KALMIA LATIFOLIA (mountain laurel) Kalmia has only a few symptoms that are digestive in nature. Among them, however, is a pain in the stomach that is worse for bending over. This type of pain is sometimes indicative of heart issues, of which there are many in the Kalmia picture. One heart symptom is palpitations that are worse for bending over, linking the heart and the stomach symptoms together. The symptoms of nausea and diarrhea, with dizziness, may have a possible link to the heart.
