MUSCULAR ACHES AND PAINS #1 6X
ARNICA MONTANA (leopard’s bane) Arnica is the leading polycrest remedy for all things that have to do with trauma and all its effects—recent or long past. Of particular note is Arnica’s effect on bruises, muscles that feel sore and bruised during illness or following overexertion, for pain in the teeth and gums following dental work (take before going to the dentist to avoid pain and soreness), hematoma from head injury, black eye from injury, and as a remedy for stroke victims.
Since the heart is also a muscle, Arnica can be of great value for a strain of the heart muscle from violent running, any type of heart muscle weakness, and palpitations of the heart after an emotional shock or a physical injury. There is an unusual symptom of the pulse being quicker than the beat of the heart.
BRYONIA ALBA (wild hops) Many of the symptoms of Bryonia alba that are concerned with muscles have to do with back injuries. These symptoms include severe and painful muscles from back injuries, slipped discs with sharp pains, sharp pains and stiffness in the lumbar region, vertebrae out of place causing much pain and immobility, and painful stiffness of the neck. All symptoms are worse from motion and better from lying on the painful side.
CIMICIFUGA RACEMOSA (black cohosh) Some muscular symptoms include pain across pelvis from hip to hip, displaced labor pains that are focused in hips, thighs or back, muscular cramping pains that are of nerve origin, stiffness and contraction in neck and back. Emotionally, Bryonia is keynoted by gloom and dejection, as if there were a black cloud over everything.
MAGNESIA PHOSPHORICA (magnesium phosphate) Magnesium is a necessary mineral for bones and muscles. Symptoms include cramping of muscles with radiating pain, and neuralgic pains that are relieved by warmth. There is oversensitivity to pain and great anxiety from the pain.
RHUS TOXICODENDRON (poison oak) Rhus tox is a remedy for all afflictions of the nerves and the spinal cord. This includes stiffness of muscles and joints in cold damp seasons, stiffness which motion “limbers up,” pain from straining or lifting, and stiffness felt particularly in the sacrum. Afflictions of nerves and spinal cord. Paralysis is listed under Rhus tox in the medicas.
RUTA GRAVEOLENS (garden rue) Ruta is excellent for injured joints and bruised bones. It is listed for injuries to tendons and for tendonitis. Tendons have a more limited blood supply than do muscles and are, as a result, much more difficult to heal. Other symptoms include backache from injury or strain, vertebrae slipping out of place easily, eyestrain with headaches, and bruised feeling of the entire body.
