Learning with LaRee
Devil’s Claw is an adrenal, thyroid and parathyroid tonic as well as a stimulant for the digestive system. It acts to cleanse and repair the liver. Because it is an herbal “bitter,” it acts as a tonic to the digestive system and as a stimulant and cleanser of the gallbladder. (The term “bitter” does not apply to the taste of the herb, but rather indicates that it signals the digestive system, bile ducts in particular, to act in anticipation of the need to digest something.) Devil’s Claw is believed to soften hardened vascular walls and restore normal function to the heart. The combination of properties found in this herb make Devil’s Claw effective to relieve minor joint pain. Devil’s Claw has properties similar to Chaparral, including the ability to cleanse the body deep into the muscles, tissues, and cell walls.
