Which Ginger should I choose?
CO2 extraction pulls more of the delicate constituents out of the plant material that can be damaged by the heat of steam distillation. This results in a more potent oil, both in aroma and in therapeutic value. CO2 extracted oils tend to be more expensive than steam distilled oils, but the higher quality is often worth the price. Ginger and ginger sweet are steam distilled. Ginger CO2 is extracted by the CO2 method.

Cautions: | Ginger is extremely potent, almost caustic. Undiluted or used too often, it may irritate sensitive skin. Ginger is phototoxic; you must avoid direct sunlight on skin to which it has been applied for at least 12 hours. Never use more than 1 drop in the bath. Ginger opens the capillaries so quickly that a severe headache can result if more than a single drop is used. |
